Students
The PBS will not extend to students applying for courses in the United Kingdom until the first quarter of 2009. Under current immigration rules:-
-
It is possible to switch into student leave after
entry as a prospective student and in some other limited circumstances.
-
Generally student leave must be applied for outside the
United Kingdom with evidence of enrolment on a qualifying
course, at a qualifying institution, with evidence of capacity to
pay fees and support and accommodate without working; and with evidence
of intention to leave at the completion of studies.
-
Grant of student visa/residence permit allows maximum
working for 20 hours per week during term time and full time in vacation
time.
-
Graduating from degree studies in the UK provides
a route to settlement through Tier 1 PBS or the work permit scheme,
which will become Tier 2 in autumn 2008.
MfB can advise and assist with preparation of applications before formal pre-assessment; generating or evaluating support documentation;
assisting with reviews and appeals.
